Important Dates and Information
The importance of reading has been demonstrated repeatedly in a variety of studies. Childen who read daily do much better in school and find a love for reading. Practicing reading during the time away from school produces positive results for all students, and helps to reinforce the strategies taught in class.
I have listed some wonderful websites to visit for summer reading programs.
R.E.A.D.S. powered by Radio Disney

Students will be writing their homework in their agenda everyday. Please check and sign your students agenda every night. This is a terrific communication tool and I check them every morning.
Absent work policy as stated by the DVUSD Governing Board Policy IKEA-R ample time will be given for makeup work once a student returns to school after an absence. Due to the amount of time teachers are taking to put together homework requests, we are asking that parents do not request homework unless your child will be out for more than three days. Once the student returns, it is the child's responsibility to make sure all work is turned in. For additional information please visit our school website at: http://sunsetridge.dvusd.org
If you would like to provide snacks for birthdays, please remember that they have to be "non" peanut treats and store bought, (no homemade) Donuts, brownies and cookies are always the best choice, and don't forget the napkins! Please leave them at the front office for pickup.
Volunteers are always welcome in the classroom. All volunteers are required to attend a Volunteer Training Class offered at the Deer Valley District Office. If you have already attended a training session, please check with the office so they may update your records.
I will need volunteers to work with students during our reading block. Please let me know if you are interested.
